Swedish Snus once helped bring Sweden out of the stone age and has faithfully served the public with quality products for over 150 years. For 2012 we created and launched a new brand site in honour of their spectacular product line.
Swedish Snus is a product with a very long and distinguished history – It is in fact one of the oldest living brands in the world and some products origin all the way back to the late 17th century. The Swedish Government saw a massive source of income and monopolized the industry at the time of the turn to the 20th century. The revenues from snuff was heavily invested into the development of an organized and modern Swedish defense as well as the very first national retirement plan. So one can actually say that moist snuff built this nation.
Together with Swedish Match and Creuna we have worked intensively figuring out how the 14 different brands should be communicated on their digital platforms. It has been a demanding process not only from a creative perspective but also due to the very complicated legal aspects when marketing tobacco. After a series of dead ends and redesigns, we finally found our way to design the site in an editorial context – So to some extent one can say that we completed the design with the help of lawyers.
